Reveal - My Unfitted FBMP IKEA Hybrid Kitchen

Here it is, finally, reveal photos of my wild and crazy dream to craft an unfitted FBMP IKEA hybrid kitchen. There are still a few projects to finish up, a few pieces of missing marble and some drawer fronts that are back ordered, plus some final finishing. I promise to be back later this week and next with lots of details and sources. For now I am going to give you lots of after photos and a few before too!

It is Reveal week for the ORC, a wonderful event in which anyone can participate! The challenge of the ORC lies in completing a space within 8 weeks. You are going to want to to click on the link and see all the gorgeous project reveals!! If you want to catch up on this year's project my first post is all about the overall plan & mood board, the second Freestanding Kitchens, third getting started planning an IKEA Kitchen, and in week four we tackled whether or not to install a Kitchen Island and week 5 was How to Remove Marble from a Backing ,in week 6 I tackled How to DIY cut Marble with a Circular Saw. and last week gave all my thoughts on Why to choose Butcher Block for your Countertops. In previous years I have completed A DIY Limestone Patio, A Colour Saturated Vestibule, and a Bedroom for Busy Boys.

Before we get much further here are a few before photos of the same angles of my afters. You’ll notice there is an entire wall not shown - I still have to refinish the large antique dresser. I cannot wait to wrap up the final details and receive a few more back ordered cabinet items from IKEA.

As I look over these before and afters one of the most striking things is how much more streamlined and open the space now feels. We didn't downsize any of our kitchen items. Rather taking out the dining table and gaining that wall allowed for more efficient storage in drawers and the ability to nix the upper cupboards. I'm actually a little nostalgic looking at the before. So many ours were spent in that kitchen! Our twins were 3.5 when we moved in and now they are 7.5. Those were busy and wild years and that kitchen served us as well as it could. Still we are already making new memories in this refreshed kitchen, I am revelling in having the space to have us cooking together as a familiy!
